Individual

Counseling provides a space in which you can be the sole focus, are able to take the time to explore your internal world and can reflect on how you interact with the external world. As counselors we are invested in your growth and want to see you succeed but are able to be more objective than friends or family. This allows a counselor to help breakdown patterns and to facilitate change for your benefit without a personal agenda.

LGBTQIA+/SOGI Affirming (Let Me Be Perfectly Queer)

LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual) or SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) identities are valid and deserve to be affirmed not just accepted. Clients should not have to educate their counselors about the community and should not have to worry about their counselors trying to change them. Being an LGBTQIA+ person often comes with some additional stress and it is beneficial to work with a provider that understands that but also knows that isn’t always what you came to work on. We work with clients at all stages of understanding their identities and the entire spectrum of being out. 

Neurodivergent

We believe all neurotypes are valid and valuable. When working with neurodivergent individuals our aim is to help manage stresses that come from being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world and to provide support that leads to a higher quality of life. Neurodivergence is not something that needs to be cured or hidden. Neurodivergent clients may find counseling a helpful space to develop skills and strategies for interacting with a world that was not designed for them. 

Groups

Groups can be a powerful therapy space because clients are able to receive education and support from others with similar lived experiences in addition to having guidance from their counselor.  Groups are typically composed of a small group of individuals that are working on similar concerns, they may or may not be at the same stage of processing them. 

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy technique that was used to treat trauma originally and has now branched out to other areas as well. It can help reduce and sometimes remove triggers, change negative beliefs about ourselves, and improve self-regulation. While it does not erase traumatic memories it can make them less emotionally overwhelming or threatening.

Health at Every Size

Bodies come in different shapes, sizes, health, and ability levels; every person deserves to be treated with equal dignity and respect. We want to support you in the ways that make sense for you, and promote your well-being mentally and physically. Health looks different for some people and they have the right to manage their own well-being.  We aim to support clients in body neutrality or body positivity in ways that promote confidence, comfort and joy when possible and that offer self-compassion when not.

Chronic Illness

Most people have a decent understanding of what it means to be sick occasionally; you take a few days off, sleep extra and take some meds. Far fewer people understand what it is like to be sick for months or years at a time. While we don’t know the ins and outs of every chronic illness we are familiar with the toll managing these conditions can take on your life, relationships and mental health.
